Participants Wanted for New Walsh University Course

Female residents of North Canton are encouraged to participate in a new course at Walsh University that focuses on women and their experiences with war

Walsh University is presenting students with new learning opportunities this school year — some of which could be directly influenced by women of North Canton.

Beginning this fall semester, the university’s Division of Humanities launched an undergraduate U.S. history course, which emphasizes women’s experiences with war and conflict. As part of students’ coursework, they will interview women in an effort to record their oral histories so they may be preserved and shared with others.

Female residents of North Canton are encouraged to participate in the course if they are willing to share their experiences from serving in a war/military conflict, supporting war efforts at home or working with a disaster relief service. Women who are married to or related to a soldier also are encouraged to participate.

Interviews will take place between now and November. Students and interviewees will work together to schedule interviews in public locations.

All oral histories will be shared with the Library of Congress' Veterans History Project and Ohio Historical Society’s Memory Project.
