The longtime Cleveland Cavaliers announcer spoke at the annual dinner, held this year at Skyland Pines Banquet Center
Joe Tait — aka "The Voice of Cleveland" — spoke Friday at the Hoover Hoops Tip-Off Dinner and got a chance to meet with athletes as well as coaches. In this pic of the day, you can see Tait with basketball coach Jim York. Looking for more photos from Friday's dinner? Check out this post by North Canton Patch blogger Courtney Oberlin and feel free to add your own photos. Coach Randy Motgomery had talked to Patch in October about the excitement of having the radio announcer in town. "Probably the biggest thing about him is his longevity," Montgomery said then. "He’s been with Cleveland sports since its inception of Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1970s. He's broadcasted for all those years and he’s seen all the different players ... and of course…

A Patch viewer submitted this stellar photo of Hoover High students showing their school spirit at the Hoover vs. GlenOak game Friday night
Eye black. Body paint. Viking horns. Perfect ingredients for a North Canton Patch "pic of the day," wouldn't you say? Patch viewer Julie Mathie-Cross added this photo to our Hoover High vs. GlenOak High School football gallery this weekend, and we were eager to share the great shot. The students "blacked out" for the game, which also happened to be senior night. And also happened to end in a Hoover High Viking win. (Hoover won 33-20.) It's not too late to submit your game photos, either. Just click here to get started.

Construction workers have erected a roof on the structure that will house the new Winking Lizard restaurant at Washington Square
Construction on the building that will house the new Winking Lizard restaurant is coming along at Washington Square. North Canton Patch snapped this picture Monday, showing the start of walls and a roof that have been erected at the construction site next to Handel's ice cream. The restaurant is slated to open in the first quarter of 2013. When North Canton Patch broke the news of the new restaurant heading to Washington Square, this is what we heard from Patch readers on our site: On a related note, the North Canton Planning Commission recently approved a parking lot for customers and employees at the new building.

We found these chocolate lovers enjoying some wine and Anastasiades chocolates this past Sunday
They sure weren't kidding about that "all you can eat" part. Anastasiades Exclusive Chocolates opened its doors to chocolate lovers Saturday and Sunday for its annual All-You-Can-Eat Chocolate Night and kept the chocolate flowing. We're spotlighting this group of chocolate lovers as our "pic of the day," but Patch contributor Rob Netro attended and has lots more photos to share in a North Canton Patch blog post.

We spotted this colorful sight at the Stark County Fair on opening day. But there's more where that came from. Check back with North Canton Patch for more fair pics this week!
Let's be honest here: There's tons to see at the Stark County Fair. Tons. While out and about Tuesday, Patch contributor Rob Netro spotted several things of interest: ornery goats, larger-than-life horses (and the little girls on tippy-toes who were just dying to touch their noses!), older folks catching up with one another in the shade, senators, hummingbirds, you name it. But this pic of Courtney Czarniak of FX Studio touching up a sign was Rob's favorite. Czarniak attended the fair with Lauren Toohey of Peacock Creations. The two will be at the fair through Sept. 3. The women specialize in elaborate face painting, hair flare and makeovers. Check back with North Canton Patch later this week (we hear Rob's going to have a blog post with …

We're showcasing one reader-submitted photo today of the North Canton YMCA's Adult Triathlon, but you can find more in our Pics & Clips gallery!
It was a big weekend for the North Canton YMCA. The Y hosted its annual kids triathlon Saturday and adult triathlon Sunday, and North Canton Patch viewer Tom Delamater sent in some great shots of the action from Sunday. We're spotlighting one of those photos as our "pic of the day" today, but you can find the rest in our Pics & Clips gallery — a place on North Canton Patch where you can share photos and videos of your community with your neighbors. And, if you're looking for even more, we hear the YMCA has a ton on its Facebook page. Stay tuned for a full list of results from the triathlons. And we'd love to see some photos of the kids triathlon, so if you've got them, make sure to upload them to Patch!
