Pot Brownie Reported at Hoover High on 4/20: Police Blotter

Police responded to Hoover High School after being told one student gave another a brownie laced with marijuana during the school day on April 20. The student ate the brownie knowing that the marijuana was in it, according to the police report. The report did not list any suspect information. Car damaged by rock-thrower on Everhard Road Someone threw a rock at a car's windshield three to four times, breaking the windshield and denting the roof, between 11:30 p.m. May 4 and 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The car was sitting in the 100 block of Everhard Road. Drunken man with shopping cart arrested outside Gabriel Bros. A 30-year-old Canton man was arrested for theft and disorderly conduct by intoxication about 2 a.m. April 28, after police saw him …

Online Video of 16-Year-Old Boy in Bath Tub Causes Parental Scare

A North Canton woman called police about 9:50 a.m. Tuesday to report that a video of a local 16-year-old boy in the bath tub had been posted all over Facebook and YouTube that day. Five 15- and 16-year-olds were involved in the making and posting of the video, according to a call-for-service entry from the North Canton Police Department. Police contacted the Stark County Prosecutor's Office, which said no crime was committed because the boy's genitals were not exposed in the video.

High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Crash, Arrest

Police say Zachary L. McKinney, 21, of Canton, led them on a high-speed chase into Canton, where McKinney crashed his car and was arrested

North Canton police arrested a 21-year-old Canton man who led them and Ohio Highway Patrol troopers on a high-speed chase through the city early this morning. Here's the account police give: Zachary L. McKinney was speeding in a Toyota Camry southbound in the 1400 block of South Main Street in North Canton about 3 a.m. today. McKinney didn't pull over when police turned on their sirens and he continued driving south, out of the city on Cleveland Avenue NW. An Ohio Highway Patrol trooper, who had seen the pursuit from the 4400 block of Cleveland Avenue NW, helped in the pursuit until McKinney lost control of his car and crashed in the 2300 block of 38th Street NW in Canton. The North Canton Police Department officially welcomed two new faces to the force Monday night as officers Cody Dollinger and Matthew Buzzard were sworn in as full-time officers. "I noticed they both have a strong desire to become police officers," Police Chief Stephan Wilder said at the swearing-in ceremony that took place just before the North Canton City Council meeting. "They've got the heart, and they've got the desire and that means a whole lot when you're focused on going at this career." Everhard Road Burglaries Spur Crime Watch Meeting

The Stark County Prosecutor's Office and North Canton police are teaming up to help keep residents safe with a crime watch meeting Tuesday night

A few burglaries along Everhard Road in the past year have residents wondering why they're being targeted. Their concerns prompted a crime watch meeting, set to take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the North Canton City Council Chambers. Jim Knight, a crime prevention specialist with the Stark County Prosecutor's Office, will lead the meeting, which will help residents become proactive against crime. North Canton Police Lt. Stanley Strausser said the department has investigated five burglaries on Everhard Road since the beginning of 2011. It may not seem like a large number, but it is for that type of area. Abduction Story Ends Up a Phony

Police Chief: Woman faces falsification charges after admitting the story was her creation.

The South Main Street abduction is a hoax, according to North Canton Police. The woman who told police two men shoved her into a van Monday night on South Main Street has admitted making up the story. Laura M. Daugherty voluntarily appeared at the police department this morning to formally confess. She was arrested, summoned, then released, police said. She faces a first-degree misdemeanor for falsification. She is scheduled to appear in Canton Municipal Court at 9 a.m. on May 10. Originally, Daugherty said two men, one masked, accosted her as she left a restaurant. After driving off with the woman, she said she was able to escape and return to her North Main Street residence. Police to Release Abduction Information This Morning

North Canton detectives are piecing together information regarding a woman who was abducted on South Main Street this week.

The North Canton Police Department is still piecing together information regarding an abduction late Monday night on South Main Street. Police Sgt. Frank Kemp said detectives are gathering information regarding the men a 31-year-old woman said shoved her into a van. Kemp said Thursday morning no arrests had been, but that new information would soon be available. He expected the department to release it Thursday afternoon, but later pushed the announcement back a day. "Our detectives are still working on it," he said. The woman escaped the van and ran to her North Main Street home, police said. She called 911 about 11:30 p.m. that night and was later taken to Aultman Hospital for injuries. Woman Abducted by Two Men on Main Street

A woman told North Canton police two men abducted her in the 100 block of South Main Street Monday night

North Canton police are investigating an abduction that was reported in the 100 block of South Main Street late Monday night. A 31-year-old woman told police two men, one wearing a mask, shoved her into a van and drove off, according to a call-for-service entry from the North Canton Police Department. The woman's face was cut during the attack. The woman was able to get out of the vehicle and run to safety at her home on North Main Street. She called 911 about 11:30 p.m. that night and was later taken to Aultman Hospital for injuries. Police Sgt. Shawn Bates said the department is actively investigating the abduction.
