Higher Rates May Be in Store for North Canton Civic Center
North Canton City Council discussed increasing the center’s rates at Monday night’s meeting
North Canton Civic Center rates may increase if city council decides that's what it will take for the center to offset costs and expenses. Council members said at their regularly scheduled meeting that the center has operated on a deficit and they must make changes if the city is to see any kind of a profit. Council discussed options and agreed to place the rate proposal on next week's agenda. Thomas Chufar — superintendent of Utilities, Services and Recreation — asked council to raise pricing, saying the center's rates already are less expensive than other similar sites and charging more will not hurt business.
