Albacete shared his expertise on writing and public speaking with Walsh University students this week as part of the university's "Professor for a Day" program
Thinking back to his days writing reviews of the Canton Symphony Orchestra for the Canton Repository, M.J. Albecete recalled the stress of finding just the right words to express himself — and doing so on a very tight deadline. For the longtime writer, the intense laboring over an orchestra review made sense. For others, like Albecete's wife, it did not. "My wife would come in and say, 'Why do you kill yourself on this? You don't get paid enough to do it ... Why do you do this? Why do you punish yourself this way?'" Albecete said. "And my answer was, 'Because I love it.' The students were honored at the 16th Congressional Art Show at the Canton Museum of Art Wednesday night
Hoover High School students and parents got to rub elbows with Rep. Jim Renacci at Wednesday night's 16th Congressional Art Show at the Canton Museum of Art. The nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students in the 16th District.

The Canton Museum of Art will host several exhibits, workshops and performances in the venue, thanks to a grant from the city of North Canton
The Canton Museum of Art once again will team up with the city of North Canton to host an arts program at the North Canton Civic Center this year. M. J. Albacete, executive director of the Canton Museum of Art, spoke before North Canton City Council Monday night, asking for a $5,000 grant that would allow several exhibits, workshops and concerts to take place at the venue as part of the GeoArt program. Plans for the upcoming series include theater presentations, brass and string quartets, engineering and recycled material artwork and a finale consisting of a Saturday workshop for North Canton students. Albacete said the events engage not only North Canton residents but have proved to be a real draw to others outside the community. “These …
