North Canton will see near record high temperatures tomorrow as it heats up to about 96 degrees. Kind of fitting for the first day of summer, right? The folks at Zoup! think so. They planned ahead to offer their customers a free 8 oz. cup of chilled soup to ring in the first day of summer (June 20). Lunch and dinner diners will receive one of two limited edition chilled soups — gazpacho or pumpkin pie bisque. The restaurant — located at 4898 Portage St. NW, North Canton, by Dunkin' Donuts near The Strip — came to the North Canton/Jackson Township area at the beginning of this year. Zoup! is giving hungry North Canton folks a way to fill up and give back to Hoover High School at the same time. The soup-specializing restaurant will open its doors today (one day before its grand opening) to take part in a fundraiser for both Hoover High School and Jackson High School. The restaurant, at 4898 Portage St. NW, North Canton, welcomes diners from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. today. Supporters of either school can drop their receipt in a designated box and 100 percent of the receipts in each box will be donated to the corresponding school. Curious what Zoup! is all about? You won't have to wait much longer; Zoup! is slated to open at the end of the month
Pretty soon the North Canton and Jackson Township area will have a place for diners who can't get enough of soup — Zoup! Zoup! reports its opening date as Jan. 26 at the 4898 Portage St. NW location, and workers are detailing the interior of the building as we speak. We haven't heard back from Zoup! management yet, but here's a little roundup from its website: Obviously, we're talking soup here. Not only that, but the restaurant carries salads, grilled sandwiches and lots of baked goods and drinks. There are hundreds of soups to choose from (about 12 choices a day), and employees will encourage you to sample — can't argue with that, right?
