The event, now in its second year, takes place April 28 and raises money for North Canton Elementary School PTO and PTA organizations
Viking Victory Run organizers are on their marks and ready to kick off another successful race next month. The 5k and kids 1-mile Kids Fun Run event, now in their second year, take place April 28 and aim to raise money for the North Canton Elementary School PTO and PTA organizations. In its first year, the event raised more than $17,000, and organizer Todd Davy said they're ready to do it bigger and better than before. "We're shooting for $20,000 this year," Davy said. "I think we're going to beat it." If race sponsorships are any sign, he might be right. The event has already brought in $4,000 in sponsorships compared to this time last year. The first event in 2012 came about as school officials and community members worked to realign …

The Viking Victory Run, Community 5K and Kids Fun Run exceeded organizers' expectations by bringing in about $16,500 — more than twice what they expected to raise
Sunday's Viking Victory Run was such a success, organizers already are thinking ahead to next year's event. This weekend's 5k and kids fun run kicked off at Hoover High School and Memorial Stadium and raised about $16,500 for the elementary schools. Not only that, but organizer Todd Davy said it accomplished another goal: It brought the North Canton community closer together as it works to realign its school buildings for the 2012-2013 school year. "Our original goal was to give something back to the schools," Davy said. "We wanted to encourage our kids to be fit. We wanted to get our families out running. And we wanted to unite the four elementary schools as we transition into next year." Davy said he's pleased with the response from the …

Viking Victory Run organizers got Greentown Elementary students excited about the upcoming Viking Victory Run 5K and Kids Fun Run, which aim to unite the North Canton community and raise money for the elementary schools
Greentown Elementary students got to a visit from Viking Victory Run organizers and a very, very big Viking at a Tuesday kick-off assembly for the April 22 5K event. Organizers got the kids excited about the upcoming event by helping them have a little fun that day. One of the main goals of the Viking Victory Run is to bring back a sense of togetherness that was lost during talks about the Elementary Service Plan — now called the Unified Elementary Design. The Unified Elementary Design makes Northwood and Clearmount elementaries K-2 buildings, while Greentown and Orchard Hill …
