McDonald, 54, announced today that he is not medically fit to take office as he continues to battle esophageal cancer, according to CantonRep.com. “These are very unfortunate circumstances and Sheriff-elect Chief McDonald’s family requests privacy during this difficult time and only asks for your prayers,” Sheriff Tim Swanson said in a statement to the Repository.
