North Canton had a full lineup of activities planned to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. Saturday kicked off with a service at the Veterans Memorial in Bitzer Park, where Dennis and Marilyn Weaver presented a wreath to honor those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. That includes their son Todd, who was working on the 94th floor of the World Trade Center, tower 2, when the second plane hit that day.
We stopped by the diversity picnic and celebration at Hoover Park Saturday afternoon and asked a few folks why it was important for them to attend that day

Patches across Northeast Ohio and America are talking to people about how their lives have changed since that day 10 years ago
Whether they decided to join the armed forces, learned life lessons on the compassion of others or just paid closer attention to world news, Americans were changed by the events of Sept. 11, 2001, in so many ways. This Patch and others across the country are commemorating the anniversary of Sept. 11 by documenting how our lives have changed – not just the security measures at airports, but how we feel and what we are doing about it. This photo gallery is taken from the 17 Patches in Northeast Ohio. Photos and stories from Patches across the country will be posted on the Huffington Post website Sept. 11. Below are links to some of the Sept. 11 Patch stories published in Ohio: Beachwood: 9-11: Day of National Tragedy, Personal Loss for …

North Canton residents Dennis and Marilyn Weaver reflect on the loss of their son and on 9/11, which they said united their family, their community and the whole country
Marilyn and Dennis Weaver will lay a wreath at the Veterans Memorial in Bitzer Park Saturday, and it's hard to say what will be going through their minds just before the 10th anniversary of 9/11 — a day on which nearly 3,000 Americans, including their son Todd, lost their lives. The North Canton couple talked with North Canton Patch recently about the city's 10th anniversary commemoration and coping with the loss of a loved one. They gave their insight into Sept. 11, 2001 — when terrorists hijacked four airplanes that crashed in Washington, D.C.; Shanksville, PA; and into the World Trade Center in New York City, where Todd worked. Their thoughts Saturday won't veer toward hatred or bitterness; rather, they'll think about the unity America…

Those of all religions and ages will gather to reflect, remember and renew their faith and commitment to peace in the future on the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks
When John Buchanan was asked eight months ago to recruit and chair a committee to plan a North Canton event to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, he never imagined the community would support the initiative with such vigor. The former clergyman was approached by the Rev. Steve Stultz Costello, co-pastor of the North Canton Faith United Methodist Church, to organize the commemoration’s activities with the help of area Christians, Jews and Muslims and representatives of local schools and organizations. “This event really took on a life of its own quickly. The more people who found out about it, the more there were who wanted to be a part of it,” Buchanan said. “There are powerful memories of 9-11. People want to talk …
