North Cantonites Make 'Snowflakes for Sandy Hook'

Nearly 50 area residents gathered Thursday to craft hundreds of winter wonderland decorations for victimized students in Newtown, CT.

Nearly 50 North Canton area residents of all ages gathered Thursday morning to make hundreds of paper snowflakes designed to provide cheer for the victimized students of Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, when they return to school in January. “Snowflakes for Sandy Hook” is one of several nationwide assistance movements spearheaded by the Connecticut PTSA on behalf of the Sandy Hook Elementary PTA. The National PTA joined in, sending out emails inviting PTA members across the U.S. to start crafting. “When school resumes for Sandy Hook, it will be in a new building. POLL: Dick’s, Walmart Suspend Sale of Some Rifles. What Do You Think?

In wake of Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, the sporting goods retailer also has removed all guns from the store closest to Newtown, CT.

In wake of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary, one of the largest sporting goods retailers in the world has suspended sales of certain kinds of semi-automatic rifles from its stores nationwide. Pennsylvania-based Dick’s Sporting Goods also has removed all guns from its chain closest to Newtown, Conn. Also today, Walmart announced it no longer will sell the Bushmaster Patrolman's Carbine M4A3 Rifle through its online store. A military-style assault rifle, the Bushmaster is in the same family of guns as the one Adam Lanza reportedly used in the massacre, the Huffington Post reports. The move by Dick's was made in respect to the victims and families of Newtown, the sporting goods chain said in a statement. Friday’s shooting left 20 …
