M.J. Albacete, Canton Museum of Art Director, Becomes 'Professor for a Day' at Walsh University

Albacete shared his expertise on writing and public speaking with Walsh University students this week as part of the university's "Professor for a Day" program

Thinking back to his days writing reviews of the Canton Symphony Orchestra for the Canton Repository, M.J. Albecete recalled the stress of finding just the right words to express himself — and doing so on a very tight deadline.  For the longtime writer, the intense laboring over an orchestra review made sense. For others, like Albecete's wife, it did not. "My wife would come in and say, 'Why do you kill yourself on this? You don't get paid enough to do it ... Why do you do this? Why do you punish yourself this way?'" Albecete said. "And my answer was, 'Because I love it.' Tomorrow morning I'll pick up the paper and there will be that review with my name on it." Hoover High Teacher Darrell Woods Dishes Out Wisdom at Walsh University

The physics teacher, drama club adviser and all-around animated guy stopped by his alma mater to teach a class Tuesday. He was one of a handful of people to participate in Walsh University's "Professor for a Day" program this week.

  Darrell Woods never got to be the forest ranger he saw himself becoming upon college graduation. But that's OK. The Hoover High physics teacher said he's still "in the wild." "In stead of being out in the wild, this is my wild," he told a classroom of students inside Walsh University's Hannon Child Development Center Tuesday. He joined Professor Benny Griffiths' adolescent to young adult education class that day to share his expertise on teaching as part of Walsh's "Professor for a Day" program. Having dreamed of being a forest ranger, Woods said he couldn't quite accept the fact the lack of government jobs would keep him from doing what he loved.
