Teenager Caught With Assortment of Drugs; Smash and Grab; and Public Indecency: Crime Blotter

Time to clean up A 16-year-old North Canton resident was arrested April 18 after police found him in possession of marijuana, cocaine, hallucinogenic mushrooms, rolling papers and a digital scale. According to North Canton Police Sgt. Shawn Bates, the teen’s father informed officers of his son’s alleged drug activity. Police responded to 500 block of 10th Street NE, found the drug cache and hit the teenager with several drug-related charges.  Smash and grab While a North Canton woman stopped inside St. Paul Church to pick up her son on April 29, a thief smashed her passenger’s side window and stole 11 credit cards, a check book, cash and her ID. High-Speed Chase Ends With Crash, Felony Arrest: Crime Blotter

Scammed A 26-year-old Canton man recently sent over $800 to India to secure what he believed to be a $4,000 loan.  Unfortunately, the transaction appears to have been a scam. The man called police on April 26 after he didn't receive the money.  High beams, low IQ Police picked off a 30-year-old Navarre man on April 20 after he was spotted driving down South Main Street with his brights on. Officers quickly discovered the man was intoxicated and charged him with drunken driving, a first-degree misdemeanor.  Busted Local teenagers were caught in a parked car April 19 with rolling papers, smoking tobacco, rolled marijuana cigarettes and a bag of weed, according to a North Canton police report. Lewd conduct On April 14, a 17-year-old North Canton girl contacted police after she reportedly received an obscene Facebook comment from someone she knew. According to the police report, the man allegedly offered the teenager $100 to have sex with him. Police are investigating.  The old switcheroo A driver and passenger weren't fooling police on April 12 when they changed places after getting pulled over in the 100 block of North Circle Drive. Police saw the switcheroo, and as they tried to question the real driver, he fled on foot. Police officer's uniform stolen from inside garage Someone stole a Canton police officer's uniform short-sleeve shirt from a car parked in a garage in the 700 block of Portage Street. The theft took place between 10 p.m. March 21 and 1:50 p.m. March 22. Estimated loss is $60. Stolen lawn decor A large cast-iron pot valued at $150 was stolen from a yard in the 900 block of Glenwood Street SE between 12:01 a.m. and 9 a.m. March 23. Orange Crush Booster Club Questions Where Funds Have Gone: Crime Blotter

Booster Club funds may be missing The Orange Crush Football Booster Club filed a police report saying there may be some money missing from its funds, but the group is unsure just how much. If money was taken, it would have been between Jan. 1, 2009, and November 12, 2012. On a related note, Orchard Hill PTA reported thousands missing from their funds in 2012. Police had issued a news release that September saying a forensic accountant from the Bureau of Criminal Identification concluded that it can't be determined any money was stolen from the Orchard Hill PTA. Man Involved in Hit-and-Run Fights With Police When They Track Him Down: Crime Blotter

A North Canton man fled after a crash in the 100 block of South Main Street, then fought with police when they confronted him at his home in the 1000 block of Bel Air Drive NE March 2. According to the North Canton police report, the 47-year-old man didn't stop after he was involved in the crash, which caused injuries to the other car's occupants. Police found the man a short time later at his home, and the man fought with police when they attempted to handcuff him. He was found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol and arrested for driving under the influence, a first-degree misdemeanor; assured clear distance ahead, a minor misdemeanor; hit-skip and resisting arrest, both first-degree misdemeanors.  A breakup at the laundromat …

Man Huffs Keyboard Cleaner, Passes Out, Crashes Into Tree: Crime Blotter

A 22-year-old North Canton man, reportedly high on keyboard cleaner, crashed his car into a tree about 3 p.m. Feb. 25. The man was huffing from a 12-ounce aerosol can then passed out and crashed in the 200 block of Roselane Street SW. The police report did not indicate he was treated for injuries. The man is charged with abusing a harmful intoxicant, a first-degree misdemeanor, and failure to control, a minor misdemeanor.  GPS stolen from car A $90 TomTom GPS unit was stolen from a car in the 800 block of Applegrove Street NW between 8 p.m. Feb. 27 and 8:15 a.m. Feb. 28. Man Arrested After He Hits Giant Eagle For Free Groceries Two Nights in a Row: Crime Blotter

A Canton man must have thought he had a good thing going when he managed to steal a cart full of groceries from the Washington Square Giant Eagle.  So, he returned the next night to try his luck again. The 22-year-old man was unidentified the first time he reportedly stole from the store (the night of Jan 23), but the second time (Jan. 24) he was questioned by police and later charged with one count of theft, a first-degree misdemeanor.
