North Canton City Council is entering the home stretch in picking a new Ward 3 council person, after the resignation of Tim Fox, who now is the city's first full-time law director. Council will meet at 6:40 p.m. Monday in executive session to conduct interviews for the Ward 3 Council position. The meeting is not open to the public. (Council plans to announce the next Ward 3 council person at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday inside Council Chambers during a special council meeting.) North Canton City Council will consider an ordinance forbidding private parking at city parks when it meets tonight
North Canton City Council will meet at 7 p.m. inside Council Chambers tonight to go over several ordinances, including a second reading for an ordinance to update city park regulations. At its Sept. 4 meeting, council members discussed with City Administrator Mike Grimes how they could update the park regulations to forbid private parking. With the updated regulations, the city could ask the motorists to move their vehicles or have them towed from the park parking lot. The updated regulations would also clarify that the parks open at 5 a.m. and that use and possession of illegal drugs are banned. North Canton Memorial Stadium could get the "wow" factor if the school board approves the installation of an LED graphics board for the scoreboard. The North Canton City Schools Board of Education is set to meet at 5:30 p.m. today in the Hoover High Media Center and discuss the graphics board installation as well as the installation of a new speaker for the stadium. The LED graphics board would be installed by Adams Signs at a cost not to exceed $19,000, paid from the district's cell tower account. And Staley Technologies would install the speaker, also covered by the district's cell tower account. The speaker would cost no more than $20,000. Fox's resignation as Ward 3 councilman was effective Sept. 6 as he pursued the position of city law director
Tonight North Canton City Council will take a voice vote to appoint Tim Fox to the position of city law director. The possible appointment comes after Fox resigned from his North Canton City Council seat to pursue the law director job, left vacant when Hans Nilges resigned. North Canton City Council members will return from their summer break and meet at 7 p.m. tonight in North Canton Council Chambers for a meeting of the whole. On the agenda for the night is discussion about a graffiti ordinance that was tabled in June. Council had discussed punishing business owners who dawdle on cleaning up graffiti on their buildings. We keep reading about addendums and revisions to the lease agreements for The Fairways. When is anyone going to realize that the land is illsuited for a golf course? But, as I have said in the past it is ideally suited for a park for all the people of North Canton to enjoy. After all millions of our monies have been spent purchasing and subsidizing the golf course.   more ›
