Our five biggest stories of the week, including a car crashing into a local coffee shop, an update on the proposed lights at the Little League field and who was named North Canton's cutest couple
1. The city's richest and poorest neighborhoods: A site called richblockspoorblocks.com uses census data so you can see your neighborhood's income. North Canton Patch took a look at North Canton and the surrounding area here. 2. North Canton's cutest couple: This young couple — Sara Stone and Bill Poyser — posted their photo in North Canton Patch's cutest couples gallery and came out on top, getting their photo featured on Facebook and this write-up on North Canton Patch. 3. Oops — Little League lights issue wasn't council's to decide: North Canton City Council got a little ahead of itself when it invited the public to share their thoughts on proposed overhead lights at the Little League fields. That is actually up to the planning …

Owner Larry Owens gives an update on restaurant improvements — what's happened, what's happening and what's yet to be done
It may seem like the improvements at the Main Street Grille are never-ending. But, there is an end in sight, says owner Larry Owens. "Everything is just kind of coming together," Owens said. "I can see light at the end of the tunnel." North Canton Patch first reported on the restaurant's updates in July 2011, when it closed for three weeks to renovate the floors and bathrooms, which now have new wallpaper, subway tile and full mirrors. And from there, the improvements kept right on coming. The restaurant has added about 40-45 more seats by opening up the "New Berlin Room" on the building's very south side. The room, which opened just before Christmas last year, features a fireplace and table seating as well as black-and-white photos of …

As the final market day approaches Saturday, organizers consider ways to make next year's season a bigger success
The final day of the North Canton Farmers Market is approaching Saturday, and as it does, market organizers are already thinking of ways to make next year's season an even better one. One way, said organizer Dan Tullius, is to shorten the season. "It’s almost like the market has faded out here at the end," Tullius said. "A lot of our produce vendors are gone and people aren’t coming. I think that the public has kind of lost interest in the market. They’re getting on to other things now that summer's over." Tullius said the market still would start in early June, just as it did this year, but it would wrap up by the end of September. Organizers have worked to bring in more special events this year, like opening the market to entertainers …

The market returns Saturday with crafts, sweets and fresh produce (can you say "strawberries?")
The North Canton Farmers Market returns for its second year, and this time it's bringing with it more fresh produce like strawberries, peas, rhubarb and onions. Although organizers had talked about changing the location for better visibility, you'll still find all the action behind Main Street Grille this year. Organizer Dan Tullius of Tullius Art & Design said the community is already abuzz in the days leading up to the market's opening. "People are starting to think about the market and getting out and getting fresh produce that’s locally grown," he said. "It seems to be picking up." The market already is promoting vendors, new and old, on its Facebook page. You can catch the market from *8:30 a.m. to noon each Saturday through Oct. 13. …

Beer tasting, live music, great food and the opportunity to meet new people and mingle with old friends — yep, this will all be at Brews After Five. North Canton Patch got the inside scoop for you
They say application is the best way to learn, so what better way to become a beer expert than by sampling some imported and craft beer as you learn about each one? No, this isn't an elective college course — it's a networking event with an Oktoberfest twist, presented by the North Canton Area Chamber of Commerce, with the support and cooperation of Walsh University. The only prerequisite for this event is you must be 21 years old. This is the second year for Brews After Five and, as always, the goal is to make it better than the first. Last year tickets were $25, which included several beer samples and an endless buffet. "This year we decided to make the entry fee more affordable, so if someone simply wants to stop in and taste a few …

New floors and up-to-date bathrooms are just a couple renovations customers will notice at the Main Street Grille
After a three-week break for renovations, the Main Street Grille will open at 4 p.m. today and feature live music by Tim Hunt tonight. Owner Larry Owens said many of the updates might go unnoticed by customers, but the ones they really might like are the up-to-date bathrooms and new flooring. "The bathrooms were dated," Owens said. "So we completely renovated them so we have new wallpaper, subway tile in them and full mirrors. That's probably the biggest thing the customer will notice." He said the side of the restaurant that had strictly tables and no booths used to be carpeted. They've replaced that carpet with a new hardwood floor that matches the 100-year-old flooring elsewhere in the restaurant. The renovations don't stop there. Owens…
