President is scheduled to visit Kent State Wednesday

President Barack Obama's planned campaign stop in Kent on Wednesday may not prove as costly as recent stops in other small towns across the country. Kent Police Chief Michelle Lee said information remains scarce about the Democratic incumbent's scheduled visit, but he is expected to be in Kent by 3:50 p.m. Wednesday via the Akron-Canton Airport. Lee said the time may change. "That’s going to depend on where exactly he’s going to go," she said. "The plan is he’s going to be on the (Kent State University) campus somewhere." University officials haven't released any information about the stop and still had no comment when asked about the president's planned visit Friday. "We can neither confirm nor deny the report," Kent State spokesperson …

Both presidential candidates plan to visit Northeast Ohio next week, and Obama could be as close as Kent

Local officials are remaining tight-lipped about President Barack Obama's planned visit to Kent next week. Kent Safety Director William Lillich said city officials were contacted by the president's administration Wednesday about the Democratic incumbent making a stop in the Tree City. Lillich said he was told the visit is expected to be next Wednesday, but at this point details are unclear about exactly when and where the president will make his campaign stop. "We’ve been informed when it’s likely to be and that it’s probably going to involve the (Kent State University) campus," Lillich said. "Beyond that, we don’t know."   Lillich said the Secret Service would coordinate the visit with Kent police and fire administrators. Officials at …

Hi Kent Actually, I do follow the news. Just for fun, I searched the first 3 names. No evidence that any of them held a Ohio CCW permit. I "blindly support" no one. I do however "blindley support" the US Constitution. An Ohio CCW permit is a permit to CARRY a handgun. It is not a permit to USE a handgun. If one of the 200,000+ CCW permit holders uses ther defensive handgun, they will be judged. …   more ›

William Koberna, 19, of Brunswick, charged with inducing panic after threatening to open fire on campus

The Kent State University student who threatened to open fire on campus has been released from jail on bond pending further court hearings on charges of aggravated menacing and inducing panic. William Koberna, 19, of Brunswick, was released on bond Monday afternoon after being arrested Sunday on the charges, which stemmed from a message he posted on Twitter threatening to use a fire arm on campus. Dr. Bernstein was a true teacher. She informed, inspired, empowered, listened and cared. She took the time to know, cherish, and engage her students. She left them with more. More than just knowing a lot more about biology, but also with a new-found sense that they impacted the universe and could make a difference. I am a better teacher because she was my teacher. The "better" that she brought to…   more ›
