Spend fuleperks, foodperks at six-pump station and small convenience store that are open 24-7.
A new GetGo gas station has opened on North Chapel Road near the Louisville Giant Eagle, giving North Canton commuters another place to spend their fuelperks and foodperks. The station has six fuel pumps, free air for vehicle tires and a 300-square-foot convenience store that’s open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The small store offers full-service lottery sales, a wide variety of GetGo-brand coffee and cappuccino, bottled beverages, snacks, candy, a large variety of retailer gift cards and prepaid wireless phone cards, as well as a surcharge-free ATM. The site’s fuel is provided by BP, so BP credit cards and gift cards are accepted at the station.

The lot will accommodate employees and diners at the new Winking Lizard restaurant, slated to open in the first quarter of 2013
The North Canton Planning Commission gave the OK on a parking lot that would accommodate employees and diners at the new Winking Lizard restaurant, being built at Washington Square by Handel's ice cream. Planning Commission Chairman Dennis Flechtner said the lot will go in the same spot where a Giant Eagle GetGo gas station was proposed and eventually shot down by the commission in September of 2011. The commission had voted 3-2 to not allow Giant Eagle to build the GetGo station there. The vote came after hearing opinions from several residents from Wynstone Circle. Many said having the gas station so close to a residential area would decrease property values, and headlights would shine into their homes. But, Flechtner said he heard no …

The North Canton Planning Commission will discuss the addition at its meeting in Council Chambers tonight
The North Canton Planning Commission tonight will talk about the addition of a parking lot to the Washington Square area — the same spot that was proposed as a GetGo gas station site in July 2011. The thought of a GetGo gas station didn't sit well with Washington Square residents as dozens attended the public meetings and voiced their opinions against it. Planning Commission Chairman Dennis Flechtner said there's no telling if the proposed parking lot will be received with similar opposition from residents. "I'll tell you when I get there," Flechtner said. "I have no idea." The commission voted 3-2 in September to not allow Giant Eagle to build the GetGo station at Washington Square. The vote came after hearing residents' opinions, such as…

The North Canton Planning Commission voted 3-2 to not allow Giant Eagle to build a GetGo station at Washington Square, the newspaper reported today
The residents at Wynstone Circle who had adamantly opposed the building of a Giant Eagle GetGo gas station near their homes won't have to worry about that possibility for right now. The Canton Repository reported today the North Canton Planning Commission did not approve Giant Eagle officials going forward with their plan to build the fuel station at Washington Square. You can find the paper's full story here. Find North Canton Patch's coverage of the July planning commission meeting in which residents shared their concerns here.

About 35 people attended Wednesday night's North Canton Planning Commission meeting, and many spoke out about their opposition to a GetGo gas station at Washington Square
Resident after resident stood before the North Canton Planning Commission Wednesday night and laid out why a GetGo gas station at Washington Square is a bad idea. The Giant Eagle gas station will be too close to a residential area and will decrease property values as well as the quality of life for residents because of the sights, smells and sounds associated with a gas station, they said. The gas station is unpleasant looking, it would be susceptible to robberies, there already are two gas stations in the immediate area, and it would increase the danger for those on the walking path, which runs along one side of the proposed station, they said. And it seemed by the end of the meeting, no amount of fencing, shrubbery or FuelPerks would …

Thanks Morgan...that's a horrible spot for a gas station regardless of the housing right next to it. It has no visibility from Market or Maple. There's a reason gas stations are usually at intersections rather than buried in shopping centers.   more ›
