Police Arrest Mother Who Threatened Suicide With Kids in Home

The woman threatened to shoot and kill herself Tuesday while her two teenage children were in the home with her

A North Canton mother was arrested for inducing panic and child endangerment after threatening to shoot and kill herself while her two teenage children were in the home with her Tuesday. North Canton police arrested the 41-year-old mother on warrants for those charges today after she was released from a local hospital. Both charges are first-degree misdemeanors. North Canton Patch will not publish the name of the woman to protect the identity of her children. North Canton Patch also does not publish the names of those who are arrested for misedemeanor crimes. While I understand the NCPD's decision to charge her, I hope that she gets the mental health services that she needs instead of incarceration. I hope CPS keeps an eye on the house to make sure that the children's mental and physical well-beings are being taken care of, as well.   more ›

Mother Threatens Suicide with Kids in Home

Police arrested a North Canton woman today after she threatened to shoot herself with her teenage children at home with her

A North Canton woman was being treated in Mercy Medical Center Tuesday after threatening to shoot herself while her teenage children were in the house with her. Police responded after 10 a.m. that morning to the 600 block of Summit Street SE, where a 41-year-old woman was threatening to shoot herself inside her home. The woman was on the phone with the Crisis Center, which had notified police, as police arrived. "When she realized we were outside, she hung up and barricaded herself in her bedroom," Sgt. Shawn Bates said. Police and fire and EMS officials responded and shut down Summit Street and notified neighbors, telling them to either evacuate or stay inside their homes until they took the woman into custody.
