Resident Cries Wolf (Literally), Widespread Sewage Mishap & More: Crime Blotter

Resident reports seeing wolf near Price Park A resident reported what looked to her like a wolf near Price Park sometime Wednesday night. Police responded to the area but could not locate the reported animal. Car parked in garage not safe fron theives Someone broke into a car parked in a garage in the 700 block of Portage Street NW and stole a pair of women's gloves and a Yamaha flute between 8 p.m. Dec. 16 and noon Dec. 17. Estimated loss is $800. Flick of a switch causes sewer backup in homes Someone turned off the power switch to the sewer pump at the city lift station in the 600 block of Holl Road, causing sewer backup in several homes in and around city. Grinchy Thief Makes Off With Christmas Tree: Crime Blotter

Looks like the Grinch isn't the only one with a penchant for stealing Christmas trees. Someone entered a home in the 300 block of Royer Avenue NW between 12:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Dec. 24 and made off with a 48-inch lighted wreath and a Christmas tree with lights. The person also damaged the front door and the awning over the door. Estimated damage and loss is $1,165. North Canton police are investigating the theft. 7th Street NW home burglarized A woman living in the 100 block of 7th Street NW told police her home was burglarized between 8 a.m. Oct. 3 and 10:11 a.m. Oct. 5. $4,500 in Jewelry Missing, Senior Citizen Scammed & More: Police Blotter

A new North Canton resident called city police at 11:58 a.m. Dec. 4 after discovering that $4,550 worth of jewelry was missing. The 77-year-old woman said she had been moving from Canton to a home in the 1200 block of Valley Drive NW between Nov. 13 and Dec. 4. Several people – some whom she didn’t know – had helped out with the move. The woman told police she wasn’t sure whether the jewelry had been misplaced or stolen. Among the missing items was a one-carat diamond cross valued at $2,000. Vehicle alarm alerts owners to theft Two residents of the 100 block of Wise Avenue NE were woken up at 5:26 a.m. Dec. 6 by a vehicle alarm going off outside. Thief Finds Stealing a Hummer Is ... Not So Easy: Crime Blotter

Someone who thought he'd slip into another person's Hummer and stealthily drive away had another thing coming last month. Someone attempted to steal a white 2008 Hummer from the 500 block of Werstler Avenue NW between 9 p.m. Nov. 13 and 8:05 a.m. Nov. 14 but found it wasn't as easy as he'd thought. The Hummer was parked in front of a Cadillac in the victim's driveway, so the thief had to navigate around it. He thief struck the Cadillac on his way out of the driveway, causing damage to the car and likely to the rear of the Hummer, too. The police report valued the Hummer at $15,000. Resident Pulls Drunken Man from Nimishillen Creek: Crime Blotter

A man walking his dog near Nimishillen Creek got a surprise Nov. 29 when he discovered a body floating in the water in the creek's west branch.  The man pulled a 57-year-old North Canton resident from the water and helped him to his own home in the 700 block of Lynbrook Street SE, where police later met them. The man who was pulled from the creek told police he had slipped, fallen in and couldn't get out. When talking to the man, police said they could smell alcohol on his breath, according to the North Canton police report. North Canton medics then took the man to Aultman Hospital. Residents, nurse at senior care facility ripped off Police received a report Nov. 20 about cash being stolen from the rooms of three residents at a senior care facility in the 200 block of Applegrove Street NE. A total of $140 was stolen from the three victims, whose ages range from 81 to 98. On Nov. 21 an LPN at the facility reported that someone had taken $40 from her wallet earlier in the month. Key stolen, vehicle stolen on 7th Street NW Someone entered an unlocked home in the 900 block of 7th Street NW between 10 a.m. and noon Nov. 18 and stole a key for a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer, then went back outside and stole the $2,800 vehicle. Police Say Man Who Stole Bikes Was Victim's Neighbor: Crime Blotter

A resident in the 200 block of Wilbur Drive NE came home about 4:25 p.m. Nov. 14 to find two men taking two bicycles out of her garage. She chased after them and yelled for them to stop and drop the bicycles. They did drop the bikes and ran off. Shortly after calling the police department, police officers arrested two suspects, one who was a neighbor of the victim. Police arrested Daniel J. Cheetham, 22, of 270 Wilbur Drive NE, and Jordan D. Eremich, 22, of 911 Fulton Drive NW, Canton, were both charged with breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony, and theft, a first-degree misdemeanor. Police found marijuana and rug paraphernalia on a man who crashed into a home about 5:25 p.m. Nov. 9. North Canton police say a 21-year-old North Canton man crashed his car into a home in the 1200 block of Carol Street NE. They found drugs and drug paraphernalia on him, leading to charges of possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. He also was charged with driving under the influence and failure to control. All are misdemeanors. Neighbor issued court summons for too-loud stereo A resident in the 800 block of Everhard Road SW told police about 3 a.m. on Nov. 11 that his neighbor plays his stereo too loud. Taco Bell Employees Turn in Suspected Drunken Driver: Crime Blotter

Employees at the Taco Bell at 1600 N. Main St. reported to North Canton police a suspected drunken driver who drove through the drive-thru about 2 a.m. Oct. 20. Police arrived and talked with the woman in the drive-thru and determined she was intoxicated. They arrested her for operating a vehicle under the influence, a first-degree misdemeanor, and booked her into the Stark County Jail.
