Clearmount Elementary teacher David Russ helped the school raise cash for Akron Children's Hospital's "Have a Heart, Do Your Part" Radiothon. The prize for students for reaching their goal? Watching Russ get his head shaved at school.

Longtime Custodian Dwight 'Skip' Beadle Hangs Up His Mop at Clearmount Elementary

Beadle has worked at Clearmount Elementary School for 38 years and serves his last day Wednesday

Dwight "Skip" Beadle Jr. walked into Clearmount Elementary School in 1975 at the age of 21, signed on to be a custodian and, for the most part, hasn't left. The head custodian has spent 38 years working at Clearmount, ensuring the interior of the school is clean and that the grounds are well maintained — and building relationships with students and staff along the way. His final day before retirement is Wednesday. To Beadle, it's been 38 great years. "I've enjoyed the work," he said. "This place has been a home away from home for me. I'm in charge of the building and grounds. I really take pride in it." Gerilyn Shimek Says Good Teachers Make Each Student Feel Special: Teacher Spotlight

Shimek is the first in the North Canton City School District to be awarded "Educator of the Month" this year

The North Canton Area Chamber of Commerce, Westfield Bank and Starbucks are saluting one teacher from each North Canton City School District each month this school year, and first in line is Gerilyn Shimek. Shimek is a first grade teacher at Clearmount Elementary School, and she's been with the district for 14 years. It's still summer, but back-to-school to-do's are on the minds of parents everywhere. There are supplies to buy, clothes to try on, new schedules to learn … the chores seem endless. To ease the minds of North Canton parents, here’s some important back-to-school information pulled together in one convenient spot! First Day of Classes Class Lists For many kids, finding out who their teacher and classmates will be is an exciting end-of-summer ritual. But one that won't play out anytime soon. PHOTOS: Clearmount Students Treated to Disney Dance Party

Clearmount Elementary School recently earned a visit from the Radio Disney Road crew for a dance party

The Radio Disney AM 1260 Road Crew visited Clearmount Elementary Wednesday to reward the students for their participation in the "Get Active, Get Fit" Challenge. The students danced, competed for prizes and cheered for their dancing teachers. The event was split into two dance sessions for fourth and fifth grade students as well as the younger students.
