North Canton's Main Street Resurfacing Project Under Way
Construction will take place at Main and Maple streets, while workers also repare catch basins along Main Street
If you’ve traveled through the heart of North Canton this week, you likely noticed the slowed traffic along Main Street and giant machinery sitting at Main and Maple streets. It’s all part of the Main Street resurfacing project, and construction could last until the end of June. City Engineer Jim Benekos said construction will take place between the south end of Rose Lane and the north end of 7th Street along Main Street. Workers primarily are resurfacing the road, but they also are replacing catch basins and curb ramps so that they’re compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. And that heavy machinery at town square — near City Hall and the Hoover District — is used to replace all the concrete and brick in the road. Benekos said …

If they wanted the look of brick, they should have used concrete stamped in a brick pattern and tinted red...would have lasted lots longer than the bricks used on the road and on the sidewalks.   more ›
