Christmas Sing & Tree Lighting Rings in Christmas in North Canton

This year's holiday event takes place Dec. 2 on the Hoover Company lawn

Christmas is on its way, and North Canton is ready to kick off yet another Christmas Sing and Tree Lighting. This year's event takes place Dec. 2, with events taking place on the Hoover Company lawn and along East Maple Street. The scheduled activities include a holiday performance by the Elite Silver Stars from 4:30 p.m.-5 p.m., followed by the Hoover High School Hi-Notes and Hi-Los. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive on a North Canton fire truck at 5:45. Then, Mayor Held and guests will light the Christmas tree. Santa will stay to visit with children in his special Santa House following the tree lighting. Kohl's Will Pick Up a Shopper's Tab Every Day Until Christmas

'Dream Receipt' promotion runs Nov. 23 - Dec. 24 at every store

Kohl’s is launching a “Dream Receipt” program, picking up the tab for one winner every day from Nov. 23 – Dec. 24, in every store and at Kohls.com.  A Kohl’s shopper will be picked at random every day in every one of Kohl’s 1,146 stores across the country and on Kohls.com.  Kohl’s will pay for each winner’s entire purchase. The store will give each winner an additional $10 transferable promotional gift so that they can help “pay it forward” by giving it to someone else for this holiday season. Over the 32-day period, Kohl’s will reward more than 36,500 Dream Receipt winners.  During the same period, for every new "like" on Kohl’s Facebook page, the store will donate $1 to Toys for Tots, up to $500,000.

Hoover High Prom Committee Looks to Santa to Raise Money for This Year's Dance

The committee will send your child a personalized letter — from Santa Claus, of course — along with a special coloring page, for $5

To raise money for this year's prom, the Hoover High Junior Prom Committee is getting a little help from jolly ol' St. Nick. The group will send out personalized letters — addressed to your child and signed by Santa Claus — for $5. The child also will receive a special coloring page mailed directly to the name and address provided. What's more? Santa will even mention a specific gift in the letter. The Junior Prom Committee works hard throughout the year to raise money for the event, said Nicole Makowski, Hoover High business teacher and prom adviser. "My junior prom committee members come to early morning meetings to plan our fundraisers and to sign up for duties; they come in during their study hall periods and even stay after school …
