NCPL Documents a 'Day in the Life of the Library' — And You're Invited

The North Canton Public Library will take part in a statewide project Thursday to show what a day in the life of a library is like

The North Canton Public Library is giving you a chance to see what a full day in the library is like — without you having to actually spend the whole day inside the library. Here's what we mean. The library will join others across the state to participate in “Snapshot Day: A Day in the Life of Ohio Libraries” Thursday to capture and share information about how important academic, public, school and special libraries and library systems are to the state of Ohio. That day, the North Canton Public Library will compile statistics, customer comments, photographs, and other details representing a typical day at the library. The results collected and pictures taken at the library will be added to those of other libraries across the state to raise…

Library Gets Outreach Expertise

Christina Weyrick-Cooper will begin a marketing position with the North Canton Public Library after a successful stint with the North Canton Area Chamber of Commerce

A few parties will benefit from Christina Weyrick-Cooper's change of employment. She will soon begin a full-time marketing position at the North Canton Public Library. The staff there gets the outreach expertise of the woman behind events like North Canton Gone Mad. Even her former employer, the North Canton Area Chamber of Commerce, finds a silver lining in Weyrick-Cooper's departure. "With the library being a chamber member, she'll continue helping us as a volunteer," Chamber President Doug Lane said. "We're not losing her totally. We'll be able to call upon her (for support)." Wednesday was Weyrick-Cooper's last day as the chamber's outreach manager. Lane said she helped boost attendance at meetings in the past year and increased the …

Organizers Call Holiday Paws Pantry a Success, Plan for Another Event

Community members donated toward a one-day food bank for those who need a little help feeding their animals. And from start to finish, the Holiday Paws Pantry was a hit.

There’s no denying it: The Holiday Paws Pantry pet food drive and one-day food bank was a success. Community members donated food at several North Canton locations (all members of the North Canton Area Chamber of Commerce) from Nov. 14-Dec. 18. Then, the Chamber hosted the one-day food bank at its office Monday afternoon and gave away food to 132 people. “I would definitely call it a success — more than any of us ever expected it to be, with both the collection and the distribution,” said Christina Weyrick-Cooper, the Chamber’s outreach manager. Organized by the Chamber and Jennifer Harrington of The Ad Lab, the Holiday Paws Pantry brought in about 4,900 pounds of cat and dog food as well as kitty litter and other pet supplies. It aimed to…

Announcing North Canton Patch's Little Fan Winner: Gabriel Cooper

Out of the 13 entries we received for our Little Fan contest, 4-year-old Gabriel Cooper and his mother Christina Weyrick-Cooper came out on top.

A few weeks ago we asked you to show us your Little Fans and, in our opinion, you rocked it. We received 13 entries showcasing cheerleaders, football players, wide-eyed babies and fans surrounded by all the sports gear you can cram into a kid's bedroom. But, there must be an all-star among all the fans, right? That all-star is 4-year-old Gabriel Cooper, the mittened munchkin football player whose photo we received from mom Christina Weyrick Cooper. And man, what a tough choice it was! Mood Food columnist Meegan Massello and photographer Rob Netro put their heads together for this one, while Twinsburg Patch Editor Mitch Cooper also cast a vote. Congrats Christina and Gabriel! You guys can have one heck of a pizza party with that $50 gift …
