Hit-Skip Victims in Search of Runaway Driver

Anyone with information regarding the accident should call North Canton police at 330-499-5911.

Victims of a hit-skip accident need your help in catching a driver who reportedly crashed into their car over the weekend. On Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m., a married couple and their son were traveling westbound in a 2003 Dodge Neon on Everhard Road when a large pickup truck traveling eastbound veered left of center and struck the driver's side paneling of their car, according to North Canton Poilce Sgt. John Minock.  The truck drove off without stopping, leaving $3,000 worth of damage to the Neon. No injuries were reported.  The family from Navarre, who regularly volunteers at "A Chorus for a Cause," is asking witnesses to come forward who can offer some additional information. If you have a tip regarding the accident, call North Canton police at…

A Chorus for a Cause to Debut Children's, Youth and Hand Bell Choirs Saturday

Joan Ferris, A Chorus for a Cause member and North Canton resident, reminded North Canton City Council Monday night that they could attend the weekend event

Joan Ferris couldn’t pass up the opportunity to remind the community about this Saturday’s debut of the A Chorus for a Cause children’s, youth and handbell choirs. All three will perform at 7:30 p.m. at Hoover High School, benefiting the local Special Olympics, Ferris said at Monday night’s North Canton City Council meeting. Ferris, a North Canton resident, urged everyone there that night to attend. She said the original A Chorus for a Cause group has been around for about two years, and it’s not quite up to the membership numbers they'd like. Nevertheless, the group has been performing two shows each year, with one group or organization benefiting from the proceeds each time. That includes the American Heart Association, Juvenile Diabetes…

Parents Can Watch Their Children Sing for a Cause

Area children can sing together while benefiting charities

A Chorus for a Cause is making it possible for children to get involved within the community by singing in their new children’s choirs. The choirs will make their debut on Oct. 1 at Hoover High School, benefiting the local Special Olympics. “It’s a great way for them to meet other children who enjoy singing,” said Pam Schott, mother of two daughters in the new children’s choirs. “Those who want to use their voices to help others.” With the elimination of choirs because of economic hardship, Christine Allison, artistic director and founder of A Chorus for a Cause, felt it was time to provide an opportunity for those singers to be part of one of their two choirs: The Feeder Choir and The Youth Choir. The Feeder Choir includes third- and …

Thank you for helping to spread the word about the new children's and youth choirs. They are going to have wonderful opportunities to sing and learn that many children are never privileged to have. The children who participate in these choirs will be very fortunate.   more ›
