Readers' Choice: Samantha's on Portage Nabs 'Best Breakfast'

The results are in, and our viewers said they loved Samantha's Restaurant above all other North Canton breakfast joints

Maybe it's the "famous" stuffed toast that's bigger than your head? Or the pages upon pages of breakfast items to choose from? Whatever the reason, it's clear North Canton Patch readers have Samantha's Restaurant on Portage Street on their minds when they're thinking about going out for breakfast. The restaurant was pitted against Beyesly's, Susanna's, Cracker Barrel and Bill & Mary's and came out on top with 36 percent of the vote. Following right behind was Bill & Mary's with 26 percent. And third place went to Susanna's with 19 percent. Thank you to everyone who nominated their favorite breakfast spot and voted in our poll this week. Look for our next installment of "Readers' Choice" Monday, when we'll ask you for the best tax preparers…

Best Place to Eat Breakfast: This Week's Readers' Choice

Your nominations wanted: Where do you like to go out to breakfast?

If you're going out to breakfast, you want to make the right choice. After all, it's the most important meal of the day. You want a fluffy pancake, not a flat one. You want coffee immediately and plenty of it. You want your bacon cooked just right. And, of course, you want friendly service. Beginning today -- Monday, March 26 and through 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 28 -- we'll be asking for your recommendations of the best places to take the family out to eat. We'll select a winner at 5 p.m. March 30 and announce it in a story on Saturday, March 31. In judging, we'll consider …

Did you have a great time on New Year's Eve? Maybe a little too great? Let these delicious recipes get you back on track.

Ahhhhh, New Year's Eve. The friends, the parties, the music ... the cocktails. The tendency to overindulge is never stronger than it is on this night. So then what? New Year's Day comes and you feel a little drained, a little under the weather or a little under the pillow at noon. Well, it comes down to how to take care of yourself, before and after the big night. Now of course the best solution would be to choose not to champagne the night away; however, instead of harping on that, let us just concentrate on making you feel better. Now, the myth is that getting up and eating a greasy, bacon-filled breakfast is the way to overcome overindulgence ... not true! That greasy meal will however help you should you eat it beforehand. Mary Ann Donuts' North Canton Location Open for Business

The doughnut shop closed Monday to move farther up Main Street to the New Berlin Commons plaza and reopened today

John and Judy Dimos, two regulars at Mary Ann Donuts, didn’t let the slick roads keep them from the pastry shop’s opening at its new location today. The North Canton couple ate inside Mary Ann Donuts, now at 1664 N. Main St., about 11:30 a.m. today. “I think it’ll be better for them because they’re in a shopping center-type area,” “Judy said. John, who said he’s been coming to Mary Ann Donuts locations for 20 years, said the new location is “100 percent better” than the old spot at 1105 N. Main St. The previous location required drive-through customers to make a U-turn to face the right way going through the drive-through. “It was a pain,” he said. It had carpeting and blue walls, while the new location offers lots of light and sticks to a…
