Robotics Competition, 'Mad Men' Viewing Party & More: 5 Things to Know

And find out where you can catch the season premiere of "Mad Men" Sunday, how you can help Clearmount Elementary students with a school-wide pet supply drive and what can get you out of the house and having fun this Thursday night

1. Helping PAWS pet supply drive ends: You've still got a few days to donate pet food and pet supplies at Clearmount Elementary. The drive wraps up Thursday. Find out more about why the students started the drive and more details in this story. 2. Selling water to Plain Township?: The public is welcome to attend a meeting at 8 a.m. Wednesday inside the administrative conference room in North Canton City Hall. There, city officials will discuss selling water to Plain Township. 3. Buckeye Regional Robotics Competition: Hoover High students will compete Thursday through Saturday in the competition stationed in Cleveland. 1. Council meets tonight: City Council is set to meet tonight at 7 p.m. in North Canton City Hall. The meeting will begin with comments from the public and then move on to reading of ordinances. On the agenda (included in the PDFs section of this update) is the third reading establishing the North Canton Disaster Relief Fund committee. 2. Going bare for cancer research: Hoover High student Kenzie Johnson is shaving her head as part of this year's St. Baldrick's event at Quaker Steak & Lube. Big announcement from Walsh: At a luncheon Wednesday, Walsh University officials will announce some big news about the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF), a think tank that studies the economic and social development of the 21st-century community. We'll be there to report on the announcement, so check back with us! 2. Canton Museum of Art Girls Night: North Canton women can a few hours this week to get pampered at the Canton Museum of Art. 1. Howard sentencing Tuesday: Erick Howard, who was found guilty last week on several felony charges, is slated to be sentenced Tuesday. City offices are closed today in observance of the Christmas holiday, but they'll reopen Tuesday. That also means no North Canton City Council meeting tonight. Council will resume its regular meetings Jan. 9. 2. Here's some exciting news for those who want to start hittin' the gym. The North Canton YMCA has cut its building fee (previously the start-up fee) in half. The discount starts today. 3. Something turns 1 year old Wednesday. Can you guess what it is? OK, OK, it's us!
