Linda Girard, 68, Loving Mother and Longtime North Cantonite

Linda passed away Sunday, April 21.

Linda I. Girard, 68, of North Canton, passed away Sunday, April 21 in the Chapel Hill Nursing Home. Linda was born Aug. 17, 1944 in Sharples, W. Va. to the late Ellis Bud and Ermil (Smith) Boyd, according to Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home.  Linda was a Canton area resident most of her life and was a member of Martindale Christian Fellowship Church. She retired from Manor Care Nursing Home in 2008 and was formerly employed as a dietician with Baker Sumser Nursing Home. Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Nate Girard; one aunt, Mary Male; one brother, Ellis Bud Boyd Jr. She is survived by four children and spouses, Jerry and Bev Briggs of Bolivar, Renee and John Warnock of North Canton, Debbie and Mike Cottrell of Senecaville, OH, …

Pamela Mancini, 53, Devoted Wife and Mother

Pamela passed away on April 12.

Pamela S. Mancini, 53, of North Canton, died on Friday, April 12 at Mercy Medical Center. Pam graduated from Washington Massillon High School and Stark State College. She attended Freedom Church in Uniontown and was employed with Mercy Medical Center, according to reedfuneralhome.com. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Karrenbauer and brother, Glen. Pam was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Anthony "Tony"; son, Mark and daughter, Kelly (Stephen) Malson; mother, Fleeta Karrenbauer and brothers, Kenneth and Michael Karrenbauer. Renee Birklund, 51, Beloved Wife and Mother

Renee passed away April 9.

Renee Birklund, 51, passed away on April 9.  Renee had a passion for life and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at home, at "the cabin" on Leesville Lake, and on Hilton Head Island, according to Reed Funeral Home.  Renee was born on September 29, 1961 in Canton, Ohio to Jerry and Zola Reynolds. She graduated from GlenOak High School and earned her degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Akron. She was employed at Diebold for over 30 years and was highly regarded by her co-workers and customers. Calling Hours For Sheriff-Elect Michael A. McDonald Take Place Today

McDonald, 54, passed away Friday after battling esophageal cancer

Calling hours for Sheriff-Elect Michael A. McDonald will take place from 3 p.m.-7 p.m. today at the Canton Civic Center's McKinley Room. McDonald, a 32-year member of the Stark County Sheriff's Office, died Friday. McDonald had won the seat over Republican candidate Lawrence A. Dordea in the November 2012 election. Then, McDonald had announced in January that he would not take office because of issues in battling esophageal cancer. According to legacy.com: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisville with Fr. Don LaHue, Former Hoover High Vice Principal, Dies at 87

LaHue served as a teacher and administrator in the North Canton Schools for 32 years

Don C. LaHue, 87, of North Canton passed away Jan. 19 after a long battle with cancer. The former Hoover High School vice principal was a 1943 Lincoln High School graduate and earned his bachelor and masters degrees from Kent State University. The 80-year-old North Canton resident passed away Monday

Shirley A. Hertler, 80, of North Canton, passed away on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, following an extended illness. According to legacy.com, the memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church of North Canton, 349 Lindy Lane NW, with Pastor Mark Sherwindt officiating. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel, 801 Pittsburg Ave. NW. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Zion Lutheran Church of North Canton. Those wishing to send condolences or share a fond memory, may sign the Reed Online Guestbook.

Kent State Stark Professor Penny Bernstein Succumbs to Cancer

Bernstein, 65, taught biological sciences and led a county-wide project that focused on the quality of water in the Nimishillen Creek Watershed

Penny Bernstein, an associate professor at Kent State University's Stark Campus, succumbed to cancer Sunday. The Canal Fulton resident was instrumental in organizing a county-wide project that brought together several environmental organizations, colleges and universities and focused on the quality of water in the Nimishillen Creek Watershed.  You can find Bernstein's obituary on the Akron Beacon Journal. Funeral services for Bernstein took place Monday.
