Parents ruin sports..
sportsnut July 14, 2014 at 07:39 am
Alan I agree. Parents coach to get their kids and kids friends a leg up. Kids are choosen too basedRead More on parents and kids being friends. Take AAU and All-Stars and positions in each sport. Parents coach because they want their kid in prime positions, kids are friends with certain kids or because a family does not like someone but the kid has talent not playing. You need "out of area" coaches to come and determine if a kid is "that good" to be at the next level not "locals" whom coach because that is the only way the kid will get playing time.

sportsnut: Seems like a perfect opportunity for you to get involved in coaching... If nothingRead More else, becoming a coach will give you a voice in the league to lobby for equal playing time for all kids, and rotation of positions--particularly at the lower levels.

Disappointment all around: 1) Ohio State paying tribute to a narcissistic/spoiled and mostRead More importantly accused child-molester and 2) again, not North Canton news.
The Hoover girls' softball team (34-0), ranked no. 4 nationally, has won three Division I OHSAA state championships in a row.

I think the City should have two Signs made entering N Canton on North and South Main st. SayingRead More Home of the 7 time Hoover Girls Softball State Champs. Honor these girls and Coach's and show the support they deserve.

Oops! Thanks for calling it to our attention. We're working on fixing it!
Katie Ryan O'Connor June 8, 2013 at 01:42 pm
All fixed. Thank you Ruth and Susan and a hearty congratulations to the Vikings! What an impressiveRead More accomplishment!

Very well spoken Hite!! Now what would people say if they heard how you spoke to SOME of the kidsRead More on the team... You know those kids you WON'T play, some of the best players in Stark Co. those same kids that have batting averages over 400, or what about the kids you play every game in positions they have never played before in their lives, or the F bombs directed at some of the players, OH here is the best one of all.... Hoover V Lake (we we're winning) you let that boy pitch over 130 pitches, you knew he was struggling going into the 6th but yet you put him back on the mound for the 7th that loss is on you! OK here it comes.... the best part.... YOU BLAMED THE KIDS THAT DIDN'T EVEN SEE THE FIELD!!!! Then you actually bring up players from JV to teach those bench warmers a lesson. R U KIDDING ME.. Mr. Hite you have to earn the privilege of being called Coach Hite and what I have seen and heard from members of the NC Community you have soured N. Cantons Baseball reputation. I will leave this last comment that I cant take credit for, actually it came from one of your players... one that plays... Do you believe that??? " WE WILL WIN IN SPITE OF HIM " (well said)
Pat May 2, 2013 at 12:02 pm
Well to respond to Mr Hite why do you think some kids go to Walsh and lets look at all the talent heRead More has wasted over the years. If they would put all the b.s. to the side starting from the JR Leagues we should have won 5 state Championships as always politics rule in High School sports.

Retirement is calling his name. I believe more people would stand up and say something if theyRead More weren't so worried about what kind of repercussions their children would have to endure i.e., Benched, Cut, etc... and don't think that wouldn't happen! Its to late for this Varsity team but, maybe its not to late for next years team. Stand up people and speak! These kids cant be hurt anymore then they already have... Save Hoovers Baseball future. They need a Coach, a mentor, someone that knows the game of Baseball.
