Wishes Can Happen to Ask for Donations Around the Clock Thursday, Friday

The annual Wish-a-Thon benefits terminally ill children and takes place from 6 a.m. Thursday to 6 p.m. Friday at Thursday's Plaza in Canton

Things are a little different this time around for the annual Wish-a-Thon.

For starters, the two-day, 24-hour event has transformed into a two-day, 36-hour event in which radio personalities call for donations throughout the day and night Thursday and Friday.

What's more, organizers have their sights set on a $100,000 goal. That's enough for Wishes Can Happen to grant 20 wishes to terminally ill children, and about twice as much as they've raised in years past.

The event takes place from 6 a.m. Thursday until 6 p.m. Friday at Thursday's Plaza, 4705 Dressler Road NW, Canton. You can pledge over the phone through 330-649-WISH (9474) or stop out to Thursday's Plaza during the Wish-a-Thon to drop off a donation and meet some of the Wishes Can Happen recipients.

"If people can stop out and see us, some of our kids will be there," said , Wishes Can Happen founder. "They need to listen to the radio, too, because some of the kids have gone into the radio station and recorded their stories, which will be playing all Thursday and Friday.”
