From July 5-8 I was in Atlanta, GA for the national U.S. United Pageant. The delegates were judged on personal interview, outfit of choice, onstage personality, and evening gown. I placed thrid runner up in my division. On Friday we attended our Pink Gala to support breast cancer research and finding a cure. There was a silent auction, a band and great food. The opening number was done to the sounds of "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" and "Candy Man". The U.S. United system is absolutely wonderful. The staff is great, the director is amazing and the delegates from all over the USA were very nice and everyone got along great. In Personal Interview, the judges asked questions based upon a biography form you fill out in advance of the pageant.
I will continue to hold the title of Ms Ohio U.S. United until December 31, 2012. At that time I will reapply to enter this pageant again next year. There are seven age divisions and a junior pageant. If anyone is interested the national website is www.usunitedpageant.com. There after July 31, 2012 you can view all the information for the upcoming 2013 pageant. There is a lot of hard work and preparation going into getting ready for the pageant. This is an experience that will last a lifetime and I have made several new friends that I am sure will be friends forever. I vow to you that I will blog more about my journey this year to the 2013 pageant than I did last year. My focus was more on getting ready for nationals and I really didn't know what to expect or what to write about.
On Sunday, July 29, 2012 I will be assisting in the Akron Race for the Cure. The race begins at Firestone Ball Park and will end at Firestone Country Club. Come out and support a great cause. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. you can find me at the Akron Racers booth at the country club. I look forward to seeing some of you there.
