UPDATE: Tornado Warning Issued for Stark County

The tornado warning is in effect until 4:45 p.m. Wednesday for southwestern Stark County.

According to our news partner WEWS Channel 5, ping pong size hail is falling in downtown Canton and storm damage has been reported in downtown Massillon.

At 3:14 p.m., Wayne County sheriffs reportedly spotted a tornado. This possible tornado touchdown was located near US 30 and Carr Road near Riceland.

The storm is moving 30 mph in an easterly direction.

Locations near the path of the possible tornado include: Massillon and Navarre.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for western Stark County and eastern Wayne County until 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.

At 2:56 p.m., the National Weather Service Doppler Radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado. This dangerous storm was located near Orrville, or eight miles east of Wooster.

Locations impacted include: Dalton, Brewster, Massillon, Navarre, North Lawrence and Canal Fulton.

The safest place to hide during a tornado is in a basement. If a basement isn't available, find shelter on the lowest floor of a building in an interior hallway or closet.
