Southwest Youth Football Hosts Casino Night Fundraiser

The youth football team uses the money from the fundraiser goes toward safety equipment and new uniforms

Southwest Youth Football coaches and athletes hope the community is ready to gamble for a good cause next month.

The team will host its annual casino night — its biggest fundraiser of the year — at 6 p.m. Feb. 23 at the North Canton Eagles, 6979 Sunset Strip Ave NW, North Canton.

The fundraiser, which costs $25 a person, supports the players and cheerleaders and allows them to buy safety equipment as well as new uniforms.

"This is a chance for friends and families to have a fun night out together and also to support Southwest," Southwest Youth Football secretary Suzanne Pepper said.

The event features raffles, baskets and prizes in addition to food, dessert, soft drinks and beer. All games are played for cash. Games include blackjack, over and under, beat the dealer, 1-6 wheel and a money wheel.

Try Beechwood. $106 fine if caught. But the point of my post is, anyone driving and using a handRead More held phone are endangering others. The local police should be setting an example of safe driving rather than encouraging its use.

Police and other first responders OFTEN have to use their phones to call other departments,Read More hospitals and resources they use that they can't contact by radio. That's like saying a police officer or ambulance should have to follow the speed limits.
