The Hoover Vikings visited a strong GlenOak Golden Eagle football team at Bob Cummings stadium. The Vikings lost 38-13 but put up a good fight. Check out the gallery for the game action.

The Vikings used a tough defense and late passing to try and contain the GlenOak Golden Eagles but fell 38-13. The first half of the game had a number of turnovers by both teams. Early in the first quarter, Eagle Raymond Wesley recovered a Viking fumble. The Golden Eagles later scored the first touchdown of the night with a Christian Williams run. The Eagles soon got the ball back with an interception by Josh Lever but the quarter ended with the score 7-0 in favor of GlenOak.

It was Hoover's turn to recover some lost balls in the second quarter, starting with Viking Joe Howard's fumble recovery at 11:53. The Vikings punted but Howard again recovered a GlenOak fumble at 8:35. Howard ran the ball back to the GlenOak 24 yard line before being tackled by Golden Eagle quarterback Reid Worstell. A third Golden Eagle turnover caused by a fumbled snap was recovered by Viking Dom Iero. The Vikings failed to capitalize on any of these recoveries and with 1:22 remaining in the half the Golden Eagles scored on a 9-yard touchdown run by Bri'onte Dunn. Hoover got the ball back but soon punted, leading to a GlenOak field goal as time ran out to leave the halftime score 17-0 in favor of the Golden Eagles.

GlenOak started the second half off with a long kickoff return by Lunden Butler, who was finally pulled down by Viking Austin Feinberg. Eagle Bri'onte Dunn scored with a short run to raise the score to 24-0 after an extra point by Spencer Semple. Dunn later broke out with a 35-yard run for another touchdown with 4:28 left in the third quarter. The quarter ended with the score at 31-0 in favor of the Golden Eagles.

The Vikings never gave up as their passing game started coming together. Viking quarterback connected with Austin Feinberg for two touchdown passes at 10:29 and 6:24 in the fourth making the final score 38-13 after a missed extra point.

Hoover's record now stands at 2-7 and 1-4 in the Federal League. GlenOak bounced back after last week's loss to raise their total to 8-1 and 4-1 in the Federal League. The Vikings finish their season next week at home against the Jackson Polar Bears.
