North Canton Little League Gearing up for Memorial Day Tournament

The tournament is slated for May 24-26.

It's once again time for the North Canton Little League (NCLL) Memorial Day Weekend Tournament.

Each year, 16 to 24 teams from Central and Northeast Ohio participate in the competitive sporting event, according to NCLL Tournament Director Scott Clark.

This year, play will begin on Friday, May 24 and will end with the crowning of the tournament champion on Sunday, May 26.

The entry free is $325 per team, and all games will be played at the North Canton Little League Complex, located at 1455 East Maple St. NE.

NCLL will serve a variety of concessions and fast food, and a large, shaded pavilion is available for team use between games.

Teams are guaranteed a minimum of three games played on May 24 and 25. The top four teams advance to semi-final play on May 26, said Clark.

The NCLL will provide umpires and baseballs.

Equipment will be inspected and must meet little league safety standards, meaning catchers will need a dangling throat protector and a long-cut chest protector, and bats must pass through a 2.25 inch ring.
