North Canton Hoover Junior Named Gatorade Ohio Softball Player of the Year

At the end of June, Jenna Lilley will find out if she is named Gatorade's National Softball Player of the Year.

Jenna Lilley, who helped the Hoover softball team win its third straight state championship Saturday, was selected to be the 2012-13 Gatorade Ohio Softball Player of the Year.

She is the third softball player to be selected for this award from Hoover.

The award not only recognizes accomplishments on the field, but off as well. The Gatorade Company gives this esteemed award to student athletes who also have outstanding academic achievements.

“Jenna Lilley is always encouraging, inspiring and motivating other players with her positive attitude and play,” Hoover coach Jerry Goodpasture said in an Akron Beacon Journal story. “She is a great teammate and a joy to coach.”

Lilley has maintained a 3.91 grade-point average in the classroom, according to the ABJ.  For more on her accomplishments — both academic and athletic — read the entire Akron Beacon Journal story
