The North Canton Hoover Vikings opened their season at home against the Stow-Munroe Falls Bulldogs.  The night was special for Hoover because they were using their new artificial turf field along with a brand new name for the field itself, "Don Hertler Sr. Field" in honor of the longtime Hoover Vikings coach.

The game started off in the Vikings' favor with an early field goal making the score 3-0.  Stow was held scoreless until midway through the second quarter when they broke through for a touchdown.  Stow's kicker had troubles the whole night and missed this extra point attempt making the score 6-3 in Stow's favor.  Stow scored another touchdown with another missed extra point late in the second quarter making the score 12-3 as time ran out in the first half.

Stow took control of the game midway through the third quarter when quarterback Christopher Choler broke a Viking tackle and ran around the visitors' side for a touchdown. The Bulldogs completed a two-point conversion to make the score 20-3.  Hoover made a move late in the third quarter with an interception by Dom Iero followed by a rushing touchdown with a minute left. The Vikings completed the extra point attempt to bring the score to 20-10 in favor of Stow.
