Hoover Softball: Lady Vikings Clip Cardinals' Wings, 15-3

Hoover (33-0) isn't showing signs of slowing.

Mentor Softball's stunning season came to an end Thursday after North Canton Hoover beat the Cardinals 15-3, reports ohsaa.org.

Mentor (20-11) had to contend with Hoover's strong bats and near flawless pitching after waiting about six hours due to rain delays at Firestone Stadium in Akron.

Hoover (33-0) got started with a 2-0 lead after the first delay, but play quickly ended and the girls endured several false alarms from the OHSAA about when play would resume.

The dominant Lady Vikings will square off against Elyria in Saturday’s state championship at 10 a.m. at Firestone Stadium, according to cantonrep.com.

If Hoover wins, the team will walk away with its third consecutive state championship.
