Teacher Spotlight: Heidi Nudo

Heidi Nudo and Darlene Pryse share the honor of being Educators of the Month for the month of January.

Both educational assistants at , Pryse and Nudo were recognized through the , Westfield Bank and the .

Heidi Nudo took some time this week to answer a few questions about her teaching career. Take a look and learn a little more about her!

Family: Married with three children
Education: B.S. in elementary education

North Canton Patch: How did you get into teaching? Did you always know you wanted to teach?

Heidi Nudo: I have always enjoyed working with children. I knew I would enjoy being a teacher.

North Canton Patch: As an educator, you serve as a role model for a lot of these kids, and I wanted to ask who did you look up to growing up, or even now, who do you find inspiration in?

Nudo: My inspiration is all the teachers I work with as well as all the teachers my children have had in the North Canton Schools. I have never met anyone who wouldn't go out of their way to help a child.

North Canton Patch: What do you love most about teaching?

Nudo: I love talking to the children and hearing about the events in their lives.

North Canton Patch: Your funniest, most embarrassing or most memorable moment you’ve had teaching here?

Nudo: My most memorable moments are those when I am quizing a student and he or she gets the answers right. I love to see a child feel proud! 

North Canton Patch: What qualities do you think make a good teacher?

Nudo: A good teacher needs to have high expectations for each student he or she teaches.

About the award: 

The North Canton Area Chamber/Westfield Bank monthly “Educator of the Month” award honors a North Canton City Schools staff member who exemplifies excellence in education in their interaction with students, parents and other staff members.

During the course of the 2011-2012 award cycle one person from each of the district’s seven buildings will be honored. The Chamber has partnered with Westfield Bank and the  on the project. Each monthly winner will receive a plaque and a Starbucks gift basket, which includes a copy of CEO Howard Schultz’ "Onward" book. Schultz initiated Starbucks’ “Empowering Educators” program to highlight educators and school systems making a difference in the lives of their students and communities.
