Stark State President Resigns, Plans to Head College in Massachusetts

Stark State College President John O'Donnell announced last week he'll move on to MassBay Community College

President John O'Donnell will resign from his role at the college in Jackson Township for a new role as president of MassBay Community College in Massachusetts. He plans to start at MassBay in Wellesley Hills Aug. 1.

Stark State officials said O'Donnell, president of the college since January 2004, announced his resignation Thursday via an all-staff email.

O'Donnell told the Canton Repository he is "not a believer in the 10- to 15-year CEO in this dynamic world of community colleges," and it was time to move on. He told the Akron Beacon Journal, "We've reached some serious goals and it's time to pause once again and take a look.''
