School District to Host 'Everyday Math' Parent Information Night

The Everyday Mathematics program affects class schedules for students in kindergarten through grade 5

North Canton City School District will give parents an opportunity to learn more about a new math program that's caused some changes in their children's class schedules for next year.

The district will host an Everyday Math Parent Information Night at 7 p.m. May 15 in the Hoover Hall of Performing Arts, , 525 7th St. NE.

Heather Lash, owner of Seeds of Knowledge Math Consulting, will provide a general overview of the new math program for kindergarten through fifth grades.  Parents also will preview some of the student and family resources and Everyday Math games.

A question and answer period will follow the presentation. The program will end by 8 p.m.

During , Curriculum Director Peggy Savage explained that the Everyday Math program focuses on application of math to everyday life and not memorization.
