Vikings were shut out by the visiting McKinley Bulldogs 41-0 Friday night. The Bulldogs controlled the game from beginning to end, scoring three times in the first quarter. The first score came with 10:29 remaining on a run by No. 28 Sa'veon Holloway. Hoover was given several chances after recovering a McKinley punt fumble at 8:46 but failed to score. McKinley scored again with another Holloway run, bringing the score to 14-0. Hoover turned the ball over with seconds remaining in the quarter and the Bulldogs took advantage by scoring on their next play as time ran out, bringing the first quarter total to 21-0.

The second quarter became a back-and-forth struggle between the Vikings and the Bulldogs. McKinley brought the ball down close to the goal but was stopped at first by the Vikings. The Bulldogs eventually pushed through with a run by Quarterback Tyler Foster with 1:21 remaining, to raise their lead to 27-0. The Bulldogs missed the extra point attempt. Hoover turned the ball over with an interception soon after and the ensuing McKinley return nearly made the end zone. Several McKinley penalties brought the ball back past midfield which brought hearty disapproving boos from the visiting crowd. The Bulldogs settled for a last-second field goal try that sailed low and left of the goalposts.

The crowd was treated to a new sight as the Hoover marching band showed off their "Script Vikes." This formation was inspired by "Script Ohio" as performed by the Ohio State marching band. The third quarter saw several drives by the Vikings and Bulldogs but no scoring.

McKinley opened the fourth quarter with a touchdown run by Quarterback Tyler Foster to raise their lead to 34-0. The Bulldogs followed this with another drive capped off by an acrobatic catch and touchdown by wide receiver Zach Sweat to make the final score 41-0 in favor of McKinley.

The remaining crowd stayed to watch the Hoover marching band perform four more songs for their "Glow Show." Check out the gallery to see what it looked like under black lights.
