The second quarter initially favored the Vikings when Justin Smith pounded the ball in from short yardage to give Hoover their only points of the night. Fitch quickly answered with a long touchdown run by Tyler Grover late in the second quarter. The score remained tied at 7 at the half.

Fitch quarterback Matt Futkos sneaked the ball past Hoover defenders early in the third quarter to put the Falcons up 14-7.
