LOOK: Viking Views Newspaper Publishes First Edition of the Year

The Hoover High School publication features stories on the new superintendent, the statewide texting ban and more

This year's first edition of Hoover High's newspaper, the Viking Views, gives a real glimpse into some of the most important topics affecting the school right now.

At the top of the list? The arrival of a new superintendent.

Michael Hartenstein stepped into the role of North Canton City School superintendent this summer, after the retirement of Michael Gallina, and the Viking Views staff is making sure the community gets to know him a little better.

Not only that, the paper has tackled the issue of texting while driving — a ban that's gone into effect in August.

"I am so proud of the work my journalism students put into the first issue of the 2012-13 Viking Views," Ogilvie told North Canton Patch. "These students devote a class period every day as well as numerous hours outside the classroom to interviewing, writing, editing, photography and design; as a result, Issue One truly reflects their professionalism."
