Hoover High Prom Committee Looks to Santa to Raise Money for This Year's Dance

The committee will send your child a personalized letter — from Santa Claus, of course — along with a special coloring page, for $5

To raise money for this year's prom, the Hoover High Junior Prom Committee is getting a little help from jolly ol' St. Nick.

The group will send out personalized letters — addressed to your child and signed by Santa Claus — for $5.

The child also will receive a special coloring page mailed directly to the name and address provided. What's more? Santa will even mention a specific gift in the letter.

The Junior Prom Committee works hard throughout the year to raise money for the event, said Nicole Makowski, Hoover High business teacher and prom adviser.

"My junior prom committee members come to early morning meetings to plan our fundraisers and to sign up for duties; they come in during their study hall periods and even stay after school when needed to complete their tasks," Makowski said. "They work very hard all year long so that we can provide the best prom experience for our juniors and seniors."

Makowski said the idea to send letters from Santa came from Hoover High teacher Malissa Dalton.

"Her home community did a similar fundraiser last year," she said. "Her daughter loved receiving a letter from Santa Claus and felt very special to have received a letter from Santa."

All proceeds from the letters will benefit this year’s prom. The deadline to send in your letter order form (see attached file) is Dec. 7.

Mail to or drop your order form as well as the $5 off at Hoover High School, 525 7th St. NE, North Canton, OH 44720. Write: "Attention: Nicole Makowski—Santa Letter” on your envelope.
