Hoover High Interact Club Hosts Senior Citizens' Prom

The event takes place from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. April 28 in the Hoover High School Commons

Know any senior citizens who might like to spend a night in Paris?

OK, maybe not Paris Paris. But maybe a convincing portrayal of it?

Members of the Interact Club are looking for folks who'd like to be a part of this year's Senior Citizens' Prom, with the theme "A Night in Paris."

The free event takes place from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. April 28 in the Hoover High Commons. Doors open at 4:45 p.m., and dinner (provided by Meals on Wheels) is served about 5:15 p.m.

Senior chairperson Jasmine McNenny said the theme will be a real draw this year.

"The theme is very classy," McNenny said. "It's kind of that special night, so we're trying to make it a little more elegant than a high school prom."

Club members sent invitations this year to those who've attended past proms, but they're hoping to reach out to more community members this year.

The Senior Citizens' Prom is just one of the many annual service activities of the Interact Club, said adviser Sarah Jackson, who works alongside adviser Melody Brown.

"It's just a chance for them to get out and do something different," Jackson said. "Most of our feedback is everyone has a good time. It's just a great time to socialize."

In addition to food and prizes, the prom also features a live band and dancing — and many students have taken the time to learn ballroom dancing to make the "night in Paris" a little more real.

Dress may be theme-related or formal. And reservations must be made ASAP. Just send in the bottom portion of the attached flier to Hoover High School Interact Club - Attn: Sarah Jackson, 525 7th St. NE, North Canton, OH 44720.
