Hoover Boys Bested By St. Vincent-St. Mary, 79-71

Hoover had St. V-M on its toes after one quarter, leading 21-15

A strong effort by the Hoover High boys basketball team wasn't enough to pull out a win over the St. Vincent-St. Mary team Tuesday night.

The Vikings lost 79-71.

Some highlights? Hoover led after the first quarter, 21-15, and senior forward Harrison Blackledge scored 11 fourth-quarter points, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. Dom Iero led Hoover with 22 points and Blackledge 21.

“I was proud of our effort,” coach Randy Montgomery told the Beacon. “I felt like it was a good game for us to play because it was kind of a physical game. We didn’t rebound as well as we needed to.”

Hoover now stands 18-4 this season.

The Vikings will end their season Feb. 26 with a game against Louisville at Alliance High School, according to hooverhoops.com.
