New Cars at the Cleveland Auto Show

I went to the Cleveland Auto Show in search of a more family-friendly car. Check out the photo gallery for what is new!

I currently drive a 2005 Mazda 3s hatchback. It's a fun little car with good mileage and handling. The only problem is how it has been shrinking with the addition of our daughter. What used to be a roomy hatchback with seating for four or two seats with a gigantic trunk has turned into a small two seater with a big car seat and a small trunk.

It is also showing it's age having recently undergone the first major repair of the 100,000 mile old clutch. The car is showing it's age in other ways as well.  There is no bluetooth connection for my phone. This has become more necessary with increased work calls and laws against driving while holding a phone in some cities.

I tend to keep cars for 5-7 years so I also want to think ahead. We will likely have another child sooner than later so I would need a car that has enough room for me and a car seat behind me. This is no easy task, especially with rear facing car seats, since i'm over 6 feet tall. My wife also requests that my next car has heated seats.

What don't I want? Well, an SUV for starters. I don't want a car that is slower, handles and stops worse and gets poor mileage just because it's taller and you can take it off road. I don't go off road. I also don't want a minivan or a crossover. I just don't, no matter how useful they are.

What I would ideally look for is a nice mid sized wagon. The only problem is that no one makes them anymore, with the exception of some BMW's, Audi's and Acura's that are out of my price range. It seems that I'm down to a mid to full sized sedan or possibly a larger hatchback.

With this in mind I went to the Cleveland Auto show at the IX center. I had some cars in mind but I wanted to look at everything that was offered in case something might work that I hadn't though of.

Check out the photo gallery for cars that caught my eye. Are you in the market for a new car? What are you looking at, or what did you just buy?
