Robert 'Jamie' McCleaster Announces Run for North Canton Council

If elected, McCleaster wants to focus on two key areas he's identified as needing attention in North Canton.

Robert J "Jaime" McCleaster, who is known for his work as the PR Director for the North Canton Jaycees, announced his run for one of the three open at-large council seats this November.

McCleaster is a lifelong resident of North Canton, a 1999 Hoover High School graduate and a graduate of the University of Akron with a bachelor's degree in management. He currently works as a sales representative for GlaxoSmithKline.

McCleaster has not held an elected position before, but he has been involved on city committees and with local non-profit organizations for a number of years, most notably with the North Canton Jaycees, where he serves on the organization’s Board.

McCleaster said in a prepared statement that there are several key areas that he feels needs attention in North Canton.

"Two of these areas of opportunity are communication from the city to residents and the current financial situation of the city," said McCleaster in a press release. “North Canton has a rich history and I have no reason to doubt that after overcoming the city’s financial crisis, the city will most certainly have a bright future. As a lifelong resident of North Canton, I look forward to the possibility of serving my fellow residents once elected to council and helping to ensure that bright future.”

McCleaster lives on Pierce Avenue with his wife Katie, their 3-year-old daughter and 10-month-old son. For more information visit McCleasterForCouncil.com or visit his campaign Facebook page.
