North Canton City School District Receives Auditor of State Award

Based upon the State of Ohio’s recently completed audit of the North Canton City School District’s financial records, the Auditor of State has honored the North Canton City Schools with the Auditor of State Award.

The Auditor of State Award is given to those entities that file timely financial reports in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), as well as receive a “clean” audit report, according to a news release from the district.

The “clean” audit report means that the North Canton City Schools’ financial audit did not contain findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, Single Audit findings, or any questioned costs. Additionally, the management letter that was sent to the North Canton City Schools contained no comments on the following: ethics referrals, questioned costs less than $10,000, findings for recovery less than $100, public records and public meeting infractions.

“(District Treasurer) Todd Tolson and his office staff are extremely thorough and professional in their daily work," said Superintendent Michael Gallina.

"The community of North Canton can take great pride and feel a great sense of security in knowing that their tax dollars and the state funding that the North Canton City Schools receives are well taken care of. As a school district, we are blessed to have Todd and his team at the ‘financial helm’ of the district! This honor from the Auditor of State reinforces our pride and confidence in this statement!”
