North Canton At-Large Council Candidates Face New Challenger

With Monday's addition, four candidates are now vying for three open at-large North Canton City Council seats.

And then there were four.

W. Roderic Covey joined the at-large North Canton City Council race after meeting Monday's write-in candidate filing deadline, according to the Stark County Board of Elections.

Covey will face off against incumbents Dan Griffith and Marcia Kiesling, and challenger Jamie McCleaster.

Before Covey joined the race, the at-large candidates were running unopposed, and the last-second news means four North Cantonites are now vying for three open at-large Council seats.

The only other contested Council race lies in Ward 4 between incumbent Jon Snyder and challenger Hillary Mueller.

Mayor David Held and the other Council incumbents will run unopposed.

Covey's name will not appear on the Nov. 5 general election ballot; residents will need to write or type in Covey's name to cast a vote for him.
