Local Attorney Fills City's Superintendent of Permits Position
Bill Bartos served his first day as North Canton's superintendent of permits Monday
The city has hired a superintendent of permits who will work hand in hand with the city’s economic development director to bolster business within the city.
Bill Bartos, a native of Poland, Ohio, signed on at $60,000 a year and started the job Monday. Mayor David Held said Bartos’ role links the offices of economic development and permits and inspections.
“So now we will have two people — Bill Bartos and Eric Bowles — to support our efforts in economic development and permits.”
Bowles had been pulling double duty as economic development director and handling permits and inspections.
“It’s much more work than one person can do effectively,” Held said.
Held said he’d been discussing the job with Bartos for about six months but wanted to wait until elections were over to make a hire. He wanted to ensure he would be the mayor working with Bartos, he said. ( after running against Frankie Colantuono.)
Held talked to media after the North Canton City Council meeting Monday night. He did not bring up the hiring of Bartos at the meeting.
Bartos graduated from the University of Mount Union in 2007 and from Ohio State University in 2010 and worked locally as an attorney before taking the position of superintendent of permits.
“He’s a fine young man,” Held said. “He’s very bright, graduated at the top of his class at Mount Union and Ohio State, and we’re pleased to have him.”
